Marché Jean-Talon and Festive Side Dishes

One of our favorite go to places in Montréal is Marché Jean-Talon (Jean-Talon Market).

Opened in 1933, this year round market is a must see! This was a special trip...we were on a mission to find the perfect ingredients to create a festive Birthday dinner for Mum!

We were off...

Walking along, collecting things...contemplating what would be our main dish? Then...we spotted it!

This succulent chicken was a quick fix to our dinner dilemma.  All we needed was a bit of sweet to cap off our menu, and let us tell you...the market doesn't disappoint. From baked treats to chocolate....we were sure to find something extraordinary!

And that we did... pastries, chocolates and macaroons...oh my!

With broad smiles we left the market, purchases in hand.

Upon our return we began preparing the feast...

Pre-heating the oven to 350 degrees, we got started on the potatoes. Chopping  onions, mushrooms, parsley, oregano, rosemary, adding a dash of salt and pepper finishing with a drizzle of olive oil from Olive & Olives. Into the oven they went.

Next, prepping the string beans.

Tomatoes, butter, fresh parsley, oregano, salt and pepper were added to the mix, joining the potatoes in the oven.

The meat was heated and the table set.

Using what we had on hand to create the centerpiece, before we knew it...dinner was ready!

Jared carved the chicken and meats while the girls served up the sides.

We toasted the evening....and dug in...Bon Appétit!

Polishing everything off quite nicely....small bites Jen:-)

We completed this delicious spread with a medley of sweets from the market....and cozied up the rest of the evening watching movies on the projector screen.

A Special Thank You to Like-A-Hotel for always making our seasons bright, and being our home away from home in beautiful Montréal!

Happy Birthday Mum! And to all a Goodnight!
