The Gift of Gratitude & 3 Ways to Practice Thankfulness

Gratitude is a fruit of great cultivation.”

~ Samuel Johnson

First, HAPPY NOVEMBER 1st! Happy Thanksgiving Month!

Next, I think being thankful and grateful are things we hear a lot about, and ultimately strive for. Yet, at times, while knowing we should be doing something…it is very easy…not to!

Being thankful does take practice Fam! But, let me be honest….the more we cultivate this gift the more it will grow and ultimately nourish and enrich our lives.

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

“Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”

I love how the Bible is very clear on the subject of giving thanks….it’s not “when everything is going great…” “when it’s convenient for you…” Fam…. It is… “Give thanks… IN ALL….circumstances!” Guys…. Even when things aren’t going our way!!!! Trust me…that’s a tough one!

Lastly, here are 3 tips for cultivating consistency in being Thankful.

1) Start a Thanksgiving Journal! As we are starting the month of November we challenge you to write down what you are thankful for each day this month!

2) Have a thankfulness buddy! Fam, our Mom was a genius because 1- she came up with the idea of starting us on the Thanksgiving journal kick when we were little and 2- she was brilliant because I remember sometimes she would actually make us each read our entries aloud to each other! Surrounding yourself with people who are on the same page and will encourage you in this area!

3) It’s all about baby steps! Fam remaining in a state of being thankful doesn’t happen overnight! Rather it starts small and grows, especially when cultivated! So again, each day choose one small thing to be grateful for! It could be as simple as “Thank you that I woke up today!” And after a while you will notice that thanksgiving muscle will just keep getting stronger!

So today and always fam…let’s choose to rejoice and be thankful in all circumstances!

We would love to be you “Thankfulness Buddies”, feel free to tag us in any posts or just drop us an email. We would love to share what everyone is thankful for!

With a Bounty of Love,
